Brussels Declaration: Give peace a chance--Women speak out

May 1-5, 1989

1. We accept the partitioning of Palestine as laid down in United Nations Resolutions 181 and 282, based on the principle of territorial separation.

2. For the good of both peoples, the occupation must cease.

3. The Palestinian nation has the right to self-determination and sovereignty.

4. All the peoples of the region have the right to live in freedom dignity and security.

5. Each party to the conflict has a legitimate right to appoint own representatives.

6. Negotiations will be organized under national auspices with the aim of resolving all problems involved in the conflict.

7. The goal of the negotiations is to achieve a just and permanent settlement of the conflict, based on legitimacy and international guarantees.
